Submissions are CLOSED for the time being. We'll keep ya posted.
But what do we want? We want work that you love and that you're proud of. We want to see the work that you want to see in Wyvern. We want your weird and we want your normal and we want, maybe more than anything, your hovering at the fringe of the two. Read our old stuff, or don't. We currently accept fiction, flash fiction, and poetry.
For poetry, we're looking for clusters, for thematic consistency, for suites of poems both within your own submissions and, ultimately, in the whole of what we publish in an issue. We want submissions of three to six poems with a thread that runs through them, with a yarn that weaves a tapestry of them all.
Simultaneous submissions are a-ok, but please let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. We do not accept previously published material. If you have already submitted for an issue, please wait until the following issue's reading period before submitting again. Regrettably, we aren't able to pay at this time.
FLASH FICTION - Up to 1,000 words. You can submit up to 3 in a single document.
FICTION - Up to 4,000 words.
POETRY - Three to six interconnected poems, totaling no more than 138 lines (six pages at 12pt, doublespaced Times New Roman).
As of 2017, Wyvern Lit publishes new issues biannually (not including theme issues) and is currently online-only.
Rights: If we accept your work, Wyvern Lit acquires First Serial Rights and Internet Rights to showcase your work indefinitely. All rights revert to author at publication, but it would be awesome if you could credit us as the first publisher if your work ends up getting published elsewhere. More on rights here.
